Protect the meaning

Read the edited document beside your original. Check names, numbers, quotations, equations, table values and references first. Formatting should improve readability without changing your argument or adding unsupported claims. If a sentence now says something you did not mean, correct it before submission.

Inspect the structure and page flow

Move through every page of the final PDF, not just the first. Look for headings stranded at the bottom, tables outside margins, missing figures, blank pages and incorrect numbering. If you requested a cover page or table of contents, check that it appears in the right place and that the contents page reflects the actual headings.

Finish with the submission rules

Compare the file with your lecturer’s or department’s current instructions for font, spacing, margins, citation style, file format and naming. Save a separate final copy, then reopen that exact copy to make sure it is readable. Keep the source file in case you need to explain a correction or make a later revision.
